Since the 1994-95 academic year, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tümer has been a faculty member at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), where he has taught courses such as Research Methods, Business Statistics, Marketing Management, and Small Business Management. After earning his undergraduate degree in Economics in 1993, he obtained his MBA from EMU and completed his PhD in Marketing Management at Uludağ University in November 1999. Prof. Dr. Tümer began his full-time academic career at EMU in February 2000 and has held significant administrative roles, including Head of the Business Administration Department (2010–2017) and Director of Graduate Schools (2017–2018).

From August 2017 to August 2020, he served as the Rector of Cyprus Social Sciences University in Nicosia. He returned to EMU in 2020 and was appointed Vice Rector for Promotion and Corporate Communication in November 2023. In addition to his academic contributions, Prof. Dr. Tümer has provided consultancy services to small businesses and industries and has participated in various public and private sector projects. He has also served as a member of the Privatization Commission and the SME Advisory Board. Since 2009, he has represented Cyprus in the European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ECSB).

A prolific researcher, Prof. Dr. Tümer has presented at prestigious academic conferences in countries such as the UK, the USA, Hungary, Ireland, Turkey, Switzerland, Bangladesh, and Uzbekistan. He has published numerous academic articles and supervised 46 master’s theses and four doctoral dissertations. A two-time recipient of the Fulbright Scholarship, he has delivered seminars at institutions like George Washington University and Babson College.

In addition to his academic and research activities, Prof. Dr. Tümer has taught short-term master’s and doctoral courses at universities in Italy, Saudi Arabia, and Iran. In 2011, he founded the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center (GIMER) at EMU, where he served as director until December 2023. He has successfully managed or contributed to 14 research projects for both public and private sectors in Cyprus. As of December 21, 2023, Prof. Dr. Tümer assumed the role of Director General of the Evkaf Administration.
