“As the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the ‘game-changing’ socio-economic, vehicle for change, aka the Digital Twin Skills Academy CIC, he maintains an over-arching intention, via his industry initiative #PQS2030. Dr Abisogun’s intention is to deploy digital twins into ‘regulated professional services’ with a USP in Construction Cost Management and an unapologetic focus on cultural and procedural change. Dr Abisogun was engaged and appointed to sit on the Gemini Council at the Centre for Digital Built Britain and remains a co-author of both the infamous Gemini Papers and the Digital Twin toolkit.
Dr Abisogun, is a well-documented industry disruptor, a longstanding Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and an eminent Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). He is also the Founder & Chairman of DiverseCity Surveyors (DCS) – who are an Honorary Affiliate Member of the Construction Industry Council, noting their highly successful peer-to-peer network promoting excellence and thought-leadership across the global, non-traditional talent pool.
As the RICS Digital Champion and appointed Chairman of the DEI Committee by the Construction Industry Council, and through his well-documented commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, he has successfully fused the intrinsic relationship between DEI and disruptive technology. Dr Abisogun is a portfolio NED, a Board Member of the London Chamber of Commerce & Industry and also a Non-Executive Director at Okana. Amongst his wider commitments to the Net Zero agenda, ESG, young people & diversity, he was appointed [in April 2022] to serve on the City of London Corporations’ Taskforce set to shape and promote [by 2025] the ‘green skills’ required to decarbonise all commercial buildings in the Square Mile and across the City of London, which has now extended to Washington DC.
Dr Abisogun sits on the CITB England Nation Council and works extensively with the Mayor of London and the GLA. From inception in 2013 was the Chairman of the ‘Moving on Up’ (MoU) initiative, London Advisory Board (funded by Trust for London, the City Bridge Trust and supported by the GLA).
An early adopter and pioneer in the area of digital construction, during July 2023, Dr Abisogun achieved another UK first, being awarded two (2) Honorary degrees, just two weeks apart from each other. He has since received, as the first ever Black man in the United Kingdom, an Honorary Doctor of the University, DUniv (from LSBU) ‘for distinction in the Surveying profession’ and an Honorary MBA (from UCEM) for his “exceptional contribution to the Built Environment”.
In the 2019 New Years Honours list, Dr Abisogun was awarded an OBE for “Services to Diversity and to Young People in the Construction Industry”; by the late HM Queen Elizabeth II.
