Prof. Dr. Özgür Cemal Özerdem was born in Ankara on 11 November 1967. After completing his high school education at Lefkoşa Türk Maarif Koleji, he received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Eastern Mediterranean University. During 1992–1994, he worked as a research and teaching assistant.

In 1996, he joined Near East University as a lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, where he later earned his Ph.D. He served as Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Near East University.

In August 2015, Prof. Dr. Özerdem joined the European University of Lefke, where he served as Chairman of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering from 2015 to 2016. Starting in 2016, he assumed the role of Director of the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research, a position he held until his resignation in January 2025. He is currently an academician at the European University of Lefke.

Prof. Dr. Özgür C. Özerdem has been a member of IEEE since 1996 and was elevated to Senior Member status in 2015. He has numerous journal and international conference publications.

He was a member of the TRNC Electricity Authority Board of Directors in 2009–2012 and 2019–2020. Additionally, in June 2022, he was appointed as a member of the Board of Renewable Energy under the TRNC Ministry of Economy and Energy by YÖDAK.

Prof. Dr. Özgür C. Özerdem has been a member of IEEE since 1996 and was elevated to Senior Member status in 2015. He has numerous journal and international conference publications.
