Hasan Güngör, born in Famagusta in 1968, completed his secondary education at Namık Kemal High School in Famagusta. He pursued higher education at both the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and Marmara University, earning his PhD in 1999.

Dr. Güngör began his academic career as a full-time lecturer at Yeditepe University in Istanbul before transitioning to the Department of Economics at EMU. From 2001 to 2004, he served as Undersecretary at the TRNC Prime Ministry Office, where he established the TRNC-EU Coordination Center and contributed to legislation development, export promotion, and employment initiatives under the TRNC Fund Management Board of Directors.

He also engaged in the TRNC's financial sector, particularly with Cooperative Companies, and was a member of the Economic Cooperation Committee between the Republic of Turkey and the TRNC. Dr. Güngör participated in United Nations-led meetings on the Cyprus issue and was involved in preparing a comprehensive settlement plan.

Following the 2004 Cyprus referendums, he returned to teaching at EMU. In 2009, he rejoined the TRNC Presidential Delegation Talks, serving until May 2014. During this time, he chaired the Technical Committee, focusing on economic negotiations and discussions.

Since May 2014, Dr. Güngör has been a lecturer in EMU's Department of Economics. His research and publications primarily address financial development and macroeconomics.
