Parallel to the atrocities of February 2023 in Turkey, caused by the earthquakes of significant magnitudes, which was deeply felt in the Island both physically and psychologically, a new chapter has been opened towards the re-evaluation of our existing buildings. This wake-up call, and the students we lost in the earthquake in Turkey, brought the focus especially to the current state of our school buildings. A major analysis organized by the chamber of engineers and architects with the Ministry of Education, showed that our schools were far from standing a similar earthquake. In this light, the Ministry of Education made an open call to all the capable businessmen in the island to act accordingly and support the re-construction/strengthening of current school buildings.

Taking into account the population increase in Iskele area and capacity overload of schools demanded an action further than strengthening the existing schools. We were in need of new schools to accommodate the increasing population in Iskele region, which was majorly contributed to by the developers in the area.

Döveç Construction being one of these developers, decided to do their part and give back to the society they existed and grew in. Honoring their late father and founder of Döveç Group, Mr. Muharrem Döveç, they have decided to construct a full-scale middle school of 600 student capacity, from scratch and donate it to the Ministry of Education. This ambitious project of 8,000 m2 construction area, to be completed in less than 1 year.
