"It is my pleasure to be here today at the Propertync Awards’ 2014, to celebrate and recognize the many achievements realised by you, as the key players in the North Cyprus property and real estate Industry. Coming from Dubai, and as organiser of the International Property Show, we have been exposed to the various challenges of being a world-class real estate investment destination. Despite the difficulties encountered in the downturn, Dubai’s real estate market has strongly recovered today. Over the past years, the Dubai government, regulators and developers have all been work-ing hard to develop further the relatively young real estate sector. Last year, the Dubai gov-ernment, for example, introduced regulations to more closely control the Dubai real estate market, including the regulation of all off-plan sales; the introduction of permits before sale; and mandatory payment of 20% before construction. Also, price increase limitations have been put in place. Today’s outlook for the Dubai real estate sector is very promising as we are witnessing strong, renewed demand from both domestic and overseas buyers. According to a recent survey from Cluttons, Dubai was ranked as the second most popular real estate investment destination among the world’s wealthy after London, whereas in 2012 we were ranked sev-enth. This demand upsurge is expected to continue, especially after Dubai successfully se-cured the Expo 2020 bid. With the positive backdrop of Dubai’s real estate industry, we are very excited about the upcoming 10th edition of the International Property Show, which is taking place between the 8th and 10th of April 2014 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The International Property Show 2014 expects to welcome over 300 exhibitors, among which are real estate developers from across Europe, Asia and North America. We are also very pleased to have once again a representation from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as well as a big Turkish pavilion at this year’s show. With strong interest from Middle Eastern investors to acquire property in North Cyprus."
