The original company Smart Mobilya was set up and opened their showroom in İstanbul Turkey in 1999 at the MODOKO Furniture site which is the main furniture site in İstanbul with over 400 showrooms. It was set up by Şölen Coşar and Serkan Coşar, husband and wife after graduating from university in Interior Design and after some practical experience in furniture industry. They specialised in the design and supply of modern furniture and in fact they spearheaded the transformation from classical to modern designs in Turkey. They moved their showroom to Girne Cyprus in 2006 but they retained some manufacturing and storage facility in İstanbul .They registered the new company in TRNC under the name ‘SMARTPLUS FURNITURE & DESIGN LTD’
