Sometimes, the spirit of a place—genius loci—is so powerful that great design does not require invention, but rather, alignment. The key is to truly understand the essence of the location and to respond to it with sensitivity and respect.

This particular site is a genuine seafront property, where the front edge is shaped and softened by the tides of the Mediterranean. The area, known as Dokuz Evler ("Nine Houses"), derives its name from the original nine beachfront homes constructed before 1974—at that time, the only built structures in the vicinity. These homes were all individually designed with a Bauhaus-inspired modernist ethos, reflecting a movement that began gaining prominence on the island from the late 1950s onwards.

Although fifteen additional houses were constructed along this coastal stretch after 1974, none have sought to become ‘the 10th’ in spirit. Rather than mimicking formal elements, a true continuation would involve understanding the essence of the original nine—absorbing their character and capturing the intangible soul of the place.

For Döveç Group, this meant adopting a design philosophy rooted in integrity rather than form: a functionally perfected layout, minimalist interiors, the use of high-quality natural materials, and doing the right thing at every step. The aim was not to create a visual manifesto, but to respond honestly and respectfully to the spirit of the site.

The result is a home defined by simplicity: the minimalism of natural elements, a serene atmosphere that offers respite from daily life, and a meditative terrace from which to listen to the rhythm of the sea. In other words—avoid mismanagement or over-design, remain faithful to fundamental design principles, and let the place guide the process.

This project stands as Döveç Group’s manifestation of what thoughtful, context-driven design should be—not a pursuit of being "different" for the sake of it, but an architectural response that is timeless, grounded, and true.
